ELD PROGRAM

ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

Our Course aids your child as they pick up the language naturally and using all of their senses through play, singing, dancing, painting, and, most importantly, while having fun.

Understanding the language and speaking freely are emphasised. With the help of various activities and educational resources that are age-appropriate, our list of vocabulary is gradually but steadily expanded so that our students can quickly hold basic conversations in English and comprehend short stories.

Eventually our students will naturally pick up on basic grammar, which is then reinforced with targeted games and activities. Age and level-appropriate additions of grammar, writing, and reading norms are then introduced.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO TEACH ENGLISH AT AN EARLY STAGE

Teaching a second or foreign language to a child is no easy task. During childhood, children go through many changes that can be easily differentiated according to their ages. This is why structuring the lessons in English for children ages 4 to 10 is so important. That’s why at Professional Language Centre, we ensure we choose the right activities, which are appropriate according to our students development and their capabilities.

During the early years, the little ones begin to develop their language skills, improve their fine and gross motor skills, and get acquainted with social cues and overall communication.

Though, there are a few variations in the milestones children achieve at different stages and ages, Our team of experts develop each lesson differently to ensure our students reach those milestones, which are useful to encourage language learning during childhood.

OUR APPROACH

We believe that, “A young child’s brain is wired to pick up the language naturally”, that’s why it’s a great idea to start learning a second language such as English just as the first one is being introduced.

Young children have the ability to retain a language easier than adults, especially if it’s being done in a total immersion environment that’s also fun and motivating.

To improve learning, we take advantage of the cognitive milestones that children have throughout their development to pick the best English for Kids’ activities and games for children that can adapt to your child’s age and cognitive stages.

Our Program

To understand our program, you first have to understand the different types of learners, as our trainers have infused various types of resources to ensure we get the best out of every student. The4 types of learners are:

VISUAL LEARNER

Someone with a preference for visual learning is partial to seeing and observing things, including pictures, diagrams, written directions and more. This is also referred to as the “spatial” learning style. Students who learn through sight understand information better when it’s presented in a visual way.

AUDITORY LEARNER

Auditory learners tend to learn better when the subject matter is reinforced by sound. These students would much rather listen to a lecture than read written notes, and they often use their own voices to reinforce new concepts and ideas. These types of learners prefer reading out loud to themselves. They aren’t afraid to speak up in class and are great at verbally explaining things.

KINAESTHETIC LEARNER

Kinaesthetic learners, sometimes called tactile learners, learn through experiencing or doing things. They like to get involved by acting out events or using their hands to touch and handle in order to understand concepts. These types of learners might struggle to sit still and often excel at sports or like to dance. They may need to take more frequent breaks when studying.

READING AND WRITING LEARNER

Reading/writing learners prefer to learn through written words. While there is some overlap with visual learning, these types of learners are drawn to expression through writing, reading articles or books, writing in diaries, looking up words in the dictionary and searching the internet for just about everything.

Each session is broken into 2 parts:

The first part focusing their ability to increase their vocabulary and sentence structures, work on their confidence to practice speech and speaking in full sentences. The second, works on their gross motor skills as well as their ability to read and write.

Our program will cover a total of:
